Dialoguing with Richard Miller

October 29th, 2010

Richard Miller finds

himself in the dream acting as a coordinator of all things non dual. He interviews dreamers to explore where they are in the dream with the fact truth, aka “the non dual,” is absolute. You can go to his site on the web at www.nevernothere.com where you get to listen to where everyone in the dream is with the fact it is one. What you encounter is where each dreamer is with the fact truth is absolute, and how they still fill time defending duality, or the fiction it’s possible to exist outside the dream mind is dreaming.

At low Duality, this is comedy, and as the defense of D expands, comedy turns into ‘tragedy.’ Since this site is dedicated to the non dual, you won’t run into too much ‘tragedy’ on this site. You will encounter dreamers doing degrees of ‘guru-itis,’ which is always fun, especially when they are awake enough to make fun of their own parody. Expect to listen to dreamers on the cusp of waking up. It is a wonderful site and I highly recommend it. Where else on the web can you listen to dreamers sharing snapshots of the absolute?

Early Morning Boot Up

The dream mind is dreaming features TAG, or “The Anti-Truth Game,” as “The Main event” in this dream. All the dreamers share the same problem: it isn't possible for a dreamer in the dream to prove it is a person, no matter what it does in the dream to sustain the lie that's possible. You can tell the difference between a low and high TAG dreamer by the intensity of their reiterated behavior. As TAG increases, desperation increases because nothing can prove a dreamer in the dream is a person. When you wake up in the dream, you are free to review the behavior you reiterate because it captures how you fill time 'trying to prove truth is false.' To be awake is to view this accurately as “The Main Event” in the dream, and that it has nothing to do with people.

Once you reconnect with the fact truth is absolute, you realize perseveration goes with the dreamer's determination to defend the fiction the game of

TAG is winnable. This takes you to the birthplace of humor in this dream: all the dreamers in the dream pursue the fiction what they do, say, think and feel, will prove truth is false, eventually. Since this isn't possible in this dream, what you witness is the degree of stuckness, somewhere in consciousness between waking up and firmly entrenched in the fiction the parody the dreamer reiterates will prove the game of TAG is winnable. This is the central fantasy dreamers defend in this dream.

In truth, this being a dream, there is no one to prove truth is false.

What's The Problem?

Waking up occurs in the dream when it does, exactly. It occurs when a dreamer in the dream, for whatever reason, unexpectedly realizes right now is a dream; it is being dreamed by mind, and it features, as “The Main Event,” TAG, or “The Anti-truth Game,” displaying all the ways the dreamers try, unsuccessfully, to prove they are people. If, as Wei Wu Wei reminds us, that right now is the dream mind is dreaming, then no dreamer in this dream can prove it is a person, no matter how it fills time trying to implement that outcome.

The goal of “The Recovery Process,” is to assist dreamers to wake up in this dream by identifying how they fill time trying to prove they are people, as if it's possible to have a life outside the dream. Truth is absolute: right now is the dream mind is dreaming, and it features, as “The Main Event,” dreamers 'trying unsuccessfully to prove they are people.' As consciousness contracts, amnesia obscures truth so the dreamers can pursue the fiction it's possible to prove they are people. As TAG expands, the dreamers display no memory for the truth. They display

no insight into the source of their stress and frustration. In this dream, the vast majority of the dreamers are firmly entrenched in the fiction they are the people they portray in this dream. This isn't obvious until you see how you fill time trying to defend “The Master Lie,” that right now is real and not a dream. When truth snaps into view, it is startling because what you see is the intensity of the dreamers's addiction to the fiction they can prove they are people. As the intensity increases, the dreamer's defense of the fiction it is the person it insists it is, becomes alarming. The logic of a dreamer playing the part of someone who is 'paranoid,' for example, is a case in point.

Duality fills reality with suffering because the most effective defense for the fiction the self is real, is suffering. If the self doesn’t exist, and reality provides the setting in which the dreamers in this dream defend the fiction it does exist, then suffering is the price the dreamer pays for defending a fiction as if it is a fact. If anything is ‘astonishing’ in this dream, it is how much suffering the dreamer is willing to endure in defense of the lie the self will prove it is a ‘real person’ in this dream. In the extreme, obviously, ‘we’ are willing to die for the lie the self is real. Defending the lie the self is real is “The Main Event” in this dream.

If everything can only be content in this dream, then defending the lie the self is real defines how the dreamers fill time in the dream. Once this comes into focus, you are awake enough to observe the connection between degree of duality, determination to prove the self is real, and degree of suffering. In my work, I get to witness the full range of duality, from almost none, to the total commitment to the fiction it is real. The more the dreamer defends the lie the

self is real, the more it suffers. Suffering goes with defending the lie the self is separate from everyone and everything. If is is true, ONENESS is the truth, then there is no such thing as separation, and the defense of a fiction as a fact shows up as suffering.

If mind is ultimate subject, as Wei Wu Wei reminds us over and and over again, then mind is what 'right now' is, in its entirety. This means 'right now' is what mind is dreaming. If this includes 'everything,' then noting has any reality other than content in the dream mind is dreaming. Truth in other words is absolute. There isn't mind dreaming this, and something else 'going on' outside of this. If truth is absolute, then the dream mind is dreaming includes 'us creating duality to defend the fiction we exist outside of the dream mind is dreaming.' The dream includes this as content in the dream, which means this can only be what the dreamers in this dream are doing in the dream mind is dreaming.

If everything can only be content in this mind generated dream, then the question of who is, or isn't “ignorant” isn't relevant. There is no one to be ignorant. The

dream includes dreamers who are 1) flat with the fact right now is the dream mind is dreaming, so nothing 'going on' has, or ever had, anything to do with people, and dreamers featured in the dream 2) creating duality to defend the fiction they exist outside the dream mind is dreaming. The dreamer's presentation in the dream falls somewhere between awake, and one with the truth, and deep in trance, filling time relying on the creation of duality to defend “The Master Lie,” that THIS is real, and not the dream mind is dreaming, and all the dreamers in the dream are the people they are imPERSONating in the dream.
